Xsilva Wins Next Gen Award

In addition to being the hottest-looking POS System you've ever seen, Xsilva can now add the moniker “award-winning” to its new Mac-based mobile point of sale solution's repertoire.

This week, Retail TouchPoints (RTP), the retail industry's go-to source for customer engagement strategies, recognized LightSpeed Mobile, Xsilva's fully integrated, Mac-based mobile Point of Sale solution, with the Next-Gen Retail Award in the Payments/Point of Sale category. The first annual Next-Gen Retail Awards recognized 10 companies that showcased innovative solutions at the National Retail Federation's 100th Annual Convention this January in New York.
"We are deeply honoured that LightSpeed Mobile is receiving accolades both from the retailers who have transformed their stores with this exciting new technology and from respected retail industry experts such as Retail TouchPoints," said Dax Dasilva, Xsilva CEO.
The RTP editorial team used four factors to evaluate solution providers that presented at the NRF:
  • The Cutting Edge Factor - A new, innovative approach to everyday tasks and operations.
  • The First-of-its-Kind Factor - A never-seen-before solution that shows great potential.
  • The Game-Changing Factor - An approach that empowers retailers to streamline their efforts and potentially gain a competitive advantage.
  • The "Must-See" Factor - Solutions that stopped attendees in their tracks on the show floor.
LightSpeed Mobile is the mobile retail extension to the next-generation LightSpeed Point of Sale system for Mac that has been astounding retailers and their customers. Using the same mobile hardware employed by Apple in its highly acclaimed retail stores, LightSpeed Mobile offers retailers a true advantage over competitors with an affordable alternative to traditional retail systems and long, impersonal line-ups at the register. Retail sales staff can use an iPod touch or iPhone and LightSpeed Mobile to connect to a LightSpeed database and process sales anywhere in the store.
On the retail floor, employees using an iPod touch or iPhone running the LightSpeed Mobile application scan or search the product(s); add, edit or set the customer; and then hand off the sale to a Mac desktop running the LightSpeed POS. This functionality allows a seamless workflow for those customers who want to pay by a method other than credit card, namely cash, check, or alternate payment method that requires a Mac-connected cash drawer or external terminal.
The user of the desktop POS will see a bubble appear on the left sidebar of the screen, an orange LightSpeed Mobile icon that can be clicked to complete the transaction. This feature spotlights the unified retail POS experience offered by LightSpeed across mobile and the desktop, in stark contrast to other mobile POS offerings that are grafted onto legacy PC-based systems.
Surveys and studies released in late 2010 and early 2011 indicate that retailers large and small are planning to mobilize their POS systems this year, with big-box retailers spending millions on custom development of mobile POS applications and SMBs seeking affordable, easy to use, off-the-shelf systems that enhance customer experience and optimize their sales processes. LightSpeed Mobile meets that market need. It is no surprise to see LightSpeed Mobile receive the Next-Gen Retail Award.
